Colour Me Happy

With a sister recently engaged, weddings and all things related have been a hot topic with my family as of late.  Not that I'm complaining, finally I have a justifiable excuse to pour over Martha Stewart Weddings and WedLuxe without feeling just a little ridiculous.  And of course, despite the fact that it's my sister getting married, one can't help but pick out a few personal favourites, which for me always seem to revolve around a scheme in pink.  There's no colour that encapsulates the fresh beauty of a spring/summer ceremony quite like classic pink.  Unabashedly girly, playful and fun, pink lets a bride embrace her feminine side, and feel as pretty as a princess.

Best Dressed: Oscars '13

I did not happen to catch the Oscars this evening.  Unfortunately, with an out-of-town family birthday celebration, time was not on my side.  Luckily, home late with my laptop I've caught up on the red capet, and watched the Les Misérables musical number about four times, so I've covered my awards show highlights.  Here are a few favorite ensembles from the Dolby Theatre tonight:

The best dressed: Charlize Theron in Dior Haute Couture, Harvey Weinstein + Georgina Chapman in Marchesa, Jessica Chastain in custom Giorgio Armani, Amy Adams in Oscar de la Renta, Alicia Vikander in Elie Saab Haute Couture, Reese Witherspoon in Louis Vuitton, Live Schreiber in Calvin Klein Collection + Naomi Watts in Giorgio Armani, Jennifer Hudson in Roberto Cavalli, Keith Urban + Nicole Kidman in L'Wren Scott, Halle Berry in Versace, Adele in Jenny Packham and Samantha Barks in Valentino.

Pour Aimer Et Chérir

When planning a wedding, what better destination than Paris, the city of love + light?  Haussmann's beautiful metropolis played the glamourous background when David, in Ralph Lauren, and Lucy, in Vera Wang, tied to knot in these spectacular French nuptials, featured in Martha Stewart Weddings.  Relying on a simple pink + white colour palette, the couple's big day exuded elegance, grace, and flawless Parisian style.

Redemption Song

{Oscar de la Renta F/W 2013, New York}

It was bold and beautiful, and a little controversial.  Exactly how heavy the hand of John Galliano was on Oscar de la Renta's F/W 2013 collection remains to be determined.  Those in the know are keeping tight-lipped, and the experts seem conflicted in hailing the show as vintage Galliano, or classic de la Renta.  In all likelihood, it was a marriage of the two...and all the better for it.

California Love

I love these pictures.  The setting's amazing, the couple is beautiful, and the photos themselves are just gorgeous.  I've blogged about the Manchiks' travel photography before, but this is the first I've looked into their wedding photography, and it definitely doesn't disappoint.  The post is a bit of a long one, but I just didn't want to edit it down.
