No. 21

{No. 21 Pre-Fall 2012, Milan}

Remember how tacky was in?  Neons and fur and leather and God knows what else?  I do.  I championed it.  I endorsed tacky.  But lately, I think that I've grown up a bit (at least that's how I'm choosing to see it), and this season the fashion industry appears to be doing the same.  Tacky is out.  It's about subtle, not showy now.  For reasons I am not yet going to explain, I've had Italian design on the mind a lot lately and No. 21's pre-fall collection embodies what I consider to be the crux Italian fashion; how simple things, done well, can create gorgeous + polished garments.  Understated and all the more beautiful for it.

Heaven In Hancock Park

In an alternate life, the one where I am fabulously wealthy and own several homes in cities across the globe, I always imagined my (fantasy) LA pad to be perched high in the Hollywood Hills with panoramic views of the city, from which I could enjoy the smoggy, purple-hued sunset over the downtown core.  Yes, I did have something specific in mind.  Yes, I do like to browse real estate websites daydreaming about it.  Which is how I came upon this amazing Hancock Park home, with a plush, elegant take on contemporary design and a hotel-style pool + bar so fantastic I might be tempted to forgo the hills.

Purse Envy: Reed Krakoff Boxer

I need a new go-to purse.  Really, quite badly.  And while there are times when the shelves seem to be overflowing with handbags that I'm dying to own, this time round I've had a harder time finding + falling for the perfect tote.  Until now.  A little above the ideal price point, this Reed Krakoff Boxer is so amazingly perfect I think I might have to take the plunge.  (It's an investment in myselfff.  Right?)

Bottega Veneta x Mona Kuhn

Bottega Veneta's latest collaboration is with noted artist/photographer Mona Kuhn.  Known for her dreamy shots of nudes, it'll be interesting to see what happens when the clothes come on, and how Kuhn translates her signature style to editorial fashion photography.  I couldn't be more excited for the upcoming Resort 2012 lookbook, and am hoping for more of the ethereal beauty that she captures so perfectly in the rest of her work.  Check out a collection of Kuhn's previous photographs below.

Sister Act

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have long held near Goddess-like status in the realm of the sartorial blogosphere, but it looks as though our fave girls may have some company in the form of another pair of pint-sized siblings.  As of late, Elle and Dakota Fanning seem to be everywhere, with layouts in Vogue Best Dressed as well as this one from W, the beautiful sisters are leaving their mark on the fashion world...and looking great doing it.
