Well, it's been (much) more than a month since my last book post, but the latest novel I've ordered from the bookstore, one that I am very excited to get into, is John Green's Looking For Alaska.  Because who doesn't like coming of age stories set in the south, told in beautiful, lyrical prose?  The short excerpt that I have read reminds me of one of my favorite books, The Summer Fletcher Greel Loved Me, so I have high hopes from this one.  And honestly, once I read the above quote I knew I had to read the whole thing.    

Winter Collection: Karnataka

A poignant reminder that in parts of the world "derelicte" as a Winter Collection is a way of life born of necessity, not a movie punch line.  The New Ark Mission of India dressed up poor street kids in their everyday clothes...discarded newspapers, sacks, and cardboard and photographed them for these moving posters, drawing attention to the extreme poverty in Karnataka, India.  An ad campaign to make us reflect on that which we take for granted, and how many luxuries we are every day afforded in the privileged world.

The New Ark Mission of India is an organization which devotes itself wholly to rescuing and rebuilding the lives of the destitute and dying people on the streets - read more about it here.

A Royal Wedding

I don't really get all of this Royal wedding hype (unlike a certain one of my sisters), and probably for the best considering it's on at 3:00am EST on a day I'm committed to working two jobs...so there will be no sitting in front of the tv in pajamas with a champagne flute for me.  I do however love this adorable drawing I came across of the The Route of the Royal Wedding Processions through London.  A cute little hand-drawn painting of an event that's destined to be a completely lavish and over-the-top extravaganza.

20 x 200 is one of my favorite websites recently since I'm on a mission to get more art up on the walls at my place.  They sell art in limited edition batches, at different price points depending on size.  The largest batch is of 200 prints and runs $20 for one...hence the name.  Which I'm pretty happy to have discovered, because other than here and Etsy I've been unsuccessful at finding decent, affordable art online...  Any suggestions?

I'm Not Always There When You Call, But I'm Always On Time

I haven't owned a watch in years (who needs one with a cell phone?), but finally decided to get back on the bandwagon after a couple of my sisters got really pretty ones by Michael Kors.  A few months of debating on the MK website later, and I finally picked mine out; a big white face, and a shiny silver band that matches all my Tiffany jewelry so I can chunk it all together on my wrist.  Perfect :)
