Retro Rustic

With fur pillows & throws, wood panelling, and classic retro furnishings, Aerin Lauder's Aspen home succeeds in looking like both a perfect venue for an après après ski, and a set from AMC's Mad Men.  The things I love about this chalet are too numerous to list, but for blogging's sake here are a few: framed vintage photography, a closetful of Sorels, large-scale stag artwork, and of course, a tub with a view of the perfect, snowy hill.

Seriously, it was 17º C here in Toronto today.  When, oh when is winter going to hit?  Let it snow... xo.

Every Time A Bell Rings

From its early days showcasing their upcoming collection, the Victoria's Secret fashion show has gotten increasingly elaborate, conceptual, and costume-y...in the best possible ways.  This year, the over-the-top wings are just the beginning of the fantastical get-ups Alessandra and the girls will be donning down the (hopefully, once again, made of glitter) runway this evening.  The 2011 show is VS's largest to date, with 69 looks, 31 sets of wings, and according to nine-time show designer Todd Thomas, "more glamour, more elegance, and more creativity." than we've ever seen.

Glamourpuss

Perhaps I'm a little bit tacky, but my idea of ultimate glamour seems to align with Vogue Italia's; big hair, liquid liner, fur....and kittens.  Obviously.

A little over a month ago, as I eagerly browsed the photo archives on style.com, I fell in love with Cushnie et Ochs S/S11 line.  What I did not know, on that first day of NYFW, was how representative it would be of the collections to follow.  Yellow would be everywhere, bright colours would abound, silhouettes would be referential of the '60s, and the beauty of sheer simplicity would not be lost on the American designers.  Above is the long-awaited sequel to my first NY S/S11 Highlight Reel, a few of my favorite collections from the many that graced the catwalks at Lincoln Center.
